• Over 800 polish people arrived.
• 733 were children & 102 were adults.
• Most refugees settled down in New Zealand after the war but a small number returned to Poland.
• Joseph Stalin sent over 120,000 Polish prisoners to Iraq.
• Around 1.7 million Polish were sent to labour camps around the world.
• They were forced labour in Siberia before they came to NZ.
