2021 - Term 1 Module Reflection
So far my year has been going pretty well. I have gotten all my work done on time and without many interruptions. So far I do not regret picking any of my chosen modules.
In Literacy we have been looking at persuasive writing and discovering our identity. We have also looked at Joe Biden's Inauguration poem, written by Amanda Gorman and wrote a response to text. At the moment we are working in some booklets to discover the meaning of our name, our family crest, pepeha, etc.
In Numeracy we have been looking at 2 step algebra equations and simplifying. I am finding this a bit too easy and kind of boring as I started looking at this sort of thing in primary school. I also don't like the format for this class as we are not separated by ability but are separated alphabetically. I don't see the sense in this as the work will never be "just right for everybody and will always be way too easy or way too hard.
Another one of my classes is Game Maker. I quite like this class as the teachers are pushing us to our full potential. I am also starting to do NCEA and earn credits.
For Adrenaline we are looking at the different body systems and adventure racing. This is another good class because the teachers are actually going the extra mile to do class trips and take in our opinions. So far we have been surfing and have a trip arranged to the new national science lab. We plan to go bridge jumping and mountain biking in the near future too.
My last class is MaD (Making a Difference) in which we are learning about New Zealander's who have made a difference in society and influencers in the bible. We rotate to a different teacher each week where we learn about a different person or persons who have dedicated their lives to helping the poor, vulnerable or society as a whole.
